The deadline for farms to prepare and implement their Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan is fast approaching. According to the EPA, farms have until May 10, 2013 to make the necessary preparations or amendments to their plan and put that plan into place. The SPCC rule includes requirements for oil spill prevention, preparedness and response to prevent oil discharges to navigable waters and adjoining shorelines.
To help farms prepare for this deadline, the EPA website has made a special SPCC for Agriculture page where they can access information to help them with their plan. Some of the features include documents on some of the SPCC basics, a guide to create your own SPCC plan and answers to some of the most frequently asked questions in relation to SPCC compliance.
For some examples of products to help keep farms compliant under SPCC regulations, check out some of the outdoor containment options on our website. There, you will find products you can apply directly to your SPCC plan, such as tank containment options or agricultural containment berms.
