Spill Pallets for
All!
There
are many different things to consider when picking out a spill pallet.
What size do I need? How many drums or IBC units do I need to contain?
Where should I put the spill containment
unit? Indoor or outdoor? What kinds of compliance regulations do I need
to meet? There are a lot of questions to ask when deciding what kind of
spill pallet you need. Here is something to consider when choosing the
right spill pallet.
What kinds of compliance regulations do I need to meet?
The best way to see if you meet 40 CFR 264.175, EPA Container
Storage Regulations, SPCC, BMP
and Uniform Fire Code Containment Pallet Regulations is to check out the EPA’s
website for updated compliance codes and regulations.
Where am I going to put it?
Size and sump capacity are a couple of things to consider when choosing where to put the spill pallet.
Ask yourself some questions, such as "Do I need it to have a lower
profile, or should it be an inline pallet to fit a specific area or
nestable for storage when it’s not in use?", or "Does the sump capacity
meet the needs of all the drums or IBC units?"
If there is not enough space inside the facility, you may need a spill pallet with a cover
for outdoor containment, to protect against potential weather or
climate situations. The outdoor units are constructed to be chemical-
and weather-resistant and most have a tall headspace to accommodate drum pumps and
funnels.
